BOXES

A co-production between AboutFace Productions (AU) and Capital E National Theatre for Children (NZ).

REVIEws & Touring Highlights
BOXES is a non-verbal, visual performance using two near life-sized puppets, illusion, music and of course boxes to create a witty and entrancing tale of friendship and diversity.

Elton moves his belongings into a house only to find that his tea turns into coffee, his flowers disappear and someone has been sleeping in his bed! Suddenly he comes face to face with the mysterious Bernie and they must somehow learn to get along. Being different is not better or worse ... it is just different.

An artistic collaboration between leading theatre makers for young audiences - L. Peter Wilson (Capital E National Theatre for Children, NZ) and Annie Forbes & Tim Denton (AboutFace Productions, Australia),   BOXES premiered to critical acclaim in January 2004 then toured extensively throughout New Zealand to festivals and major venues. In 2005 it also had a successful season in Hobart, Australia. In 2010 Peter, Annie and Tim collaborated again to devise a new beginning that allowed the young audience to see the actors transform into hooded puppeteers. Composer Thomas Press was commissioned to create an exciting new soundscape. BOXES then enjoyed a sold-out season at the Mackenzie Theatre and received excellent reviews. In 2011 there were sold-out seasons in Auckland and Wellington.

BOXES is 56 minutes long and is most suitable for children aged 3 - 8+ years old and family audiences.
